Black History Month All-Day Dance Bootcamp
This February 15th, 2025, at UC San Diego’s Wagner Dance Building, Africa in America is holding its “Black
History Month All-Day Dance Bootcamp”. This event will take place between the hours of 10am-10pm and is
open to the public where people get the option to pay for a half day of dance workshops for $20 and/or a full day
of workshops for $40! Our dance instructors include Black Dance Professors here at UCSD (Bernard Brown,
Daunte Fyall, Kara Mack), dance instructors from HBCUs Benedict College, North Carolina A&T, and Johnson
C. Smith University marching bands, and Contra-Tiempo Dance Company.. Participants will have the chance to
participate in open classes given throughout the day and space; while also enjoying the visual artwork from local
artists as well. Participants will also be able to witness the deep roots of African-American culture through the
presence of the Divine 9 Black Fraternity and Sorority Organizations (The “Divine Nine” includes the following
organizations: Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi
Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta), UC San Diego's 1st Black Majorette Dance
Team the Tritonettes, a community Drumline, and much more; all founded on the roots and traditions of
African-American culture and the diaspora.
