Africa In America Presents its 6th Annual Original Works Showcase for African Diasporic Music and Dance entitled, "The Sounds of Blackness". This night of reflection will kick off a beautiful weekend of fellowship amongst the participants and lovers of African Diasporic music and dance here in the Los Angeles area. In this year's showcase, we will shine a light on the diaspora's soundtrack of our lives as we feature original works from musicians, vocalists, and drummers on October 5th at Barnsdall Gallery Theater from 8pm-10pm. Artists from both North and South America, West and South Africa, and the Carribbeans will represent on stage in a 1 NIGHT-ONLY event! There wil be an afterparty this year, so people will be able to meet and greet these amazing artists.

We are soooo excited to announce that this upcoming #mlkweekend, we are doing a collabo “QUEENS OF THE SOUTH” dance workshop with Founder/CEO Kara Mack and her classmate and childhood friend from South Carolina Kristen Smith. Kristen is a former 14K Dance Captain of the Bethune Cookman Marching Band, featured dancer in the movie “Drumline”, and a retired NFL cheerleader for the Jacksonville Jaguars🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

AIA Presents the 3rd Annual Original Works Showcase for African Disaporic Music and Dance "#JUSTUS"

Premiering a choreographic collaboration between Kara Mack and Bukina Faso's Willy Souly, "#JUSTUS" will showcase the resilience of black people in the diaspora through the mist of so much turmoil and strife regardless of geographic location.  For the 3rd year in a row, it will be held at Barnsdall Gallery Theater on October 22, 2016 at 8pm.  Tickets will be $20 before October 16th, and $25 after.  Let's celebrate 3 years of Africa in America and this great African Diasporic music and dance community!!
